(b. 1955)

Nihonga painter from Tokyo. Kitada completed graduate studies at Tokyo University of the Arts, where he studied under Hirayama Ikuo. During his years as a student, Kitada primarily depicted women with pronounced lines. However, in recent times, he has drawn inspiration from classics and other sources to reveal his inner world. This involves a return to Eastern philosophy in order to reconstruct his perception of that world. Kitada actively participated in exhibitions, particularly the Japan Art Institute exhibitions. He served as a professor at Aichi Prefectural University of Fine Arts and Music. He received numerous awards, including the Prime Minister’s Award and the Japan Art Academy Award. Member of the Japan Art Institute.
