Born in Kyoto, Kida Yasuhiko graduated in 1967 from the Fine Arts course of the Kyoto University of Education. After completing the graduate program of design at the Kyoto City University of Arts, he moved to Tokyo to work with the advertising company Hakuhōdō, Inc. Returning to his hometown in 1975, Kida began to specialize in prints, but also relied on a wide range of materials and formats extending to glass painting, wood painting, watercolors, oil painting, ceramics and calligraphy. On recommendation by fellow artist Tanaka Ikkō Kida became part of the art staff of Saison Group. Tanaka served as a mentor for Kida until his death in 2002. In 2013, Kida was awarded the Buddhist rank of ‘Dharma Eye’ by the abbot of the monzeki temple Myōhōin. He died from lymphoma in 2015.
