(1851–1894)
Korean politician, born in Andong (now South Korea). As a leader of the Enlightenment Party of the Joseon (Gaehwadang), Kim together with Pak Yung-hio staged the Gapsin Coup to overthrow the conservative Sadaedang fraction and the ruling Yeoheung Min clan. Kim eventually had to flee the country to Japan. He later was assassinated en route to Shanghai.
