Nihonga painter from Kyoto. Manshū studied with Yamamoto Shunkyo and exhibited successfully at the Bunten exhibitions, earning recognition in the Kansai art circles. After Shunkyo’s death, he became a leading member of the Sanae art association and later served as the president of the Kyoto City School of Arts. Manshū was skilled with lyrical depictions of scenes of nature like mountains and rivers. Member of the Imperial Academy of Arts and jury member of the Teiten exhibitions.
