(1851–1918)
Nihonga painter born in Edo (now Tokyo). Seitei studie with Kikuchi Yōsai. He developed a refined style of bird-and-flower painting that took inspiration from Western art and participated in national and international expositions. His work extended to designs for ceramic decoration, woodblock printing and book illustrations, including the illustrations to Yamada Bimyō’s Butterfly.
