Early Edo period Chinese Ōbaku school zen priest. Muan studied with Yinyuan Longqi (Ingen Ryūki), who recommended him for the post of abbot of the temple Fukusaiji in Nagasaki. Muan later moved on the become the second abbot of Manpukuji in Uji, the main temple of the Ōbaku school in Japan. He also founded the temple Zuishōji in Edo. One of the “Three Master Calligraphers of the Ōbaku School.”
