Nihonga painter from Miyazaki Prefecture. Tamon initially studied with a Kano studio in his home prefecture, but after his move to Tokyo became a student of Kawai Gyokudō and Hashimoto Gahō. After winning recognition at the Japan Painting Art Association, Tamon was active at the Bunten exhibitions. He specialized in scenes of nature and landscape painting, demonstrating unusual compositions and vigorous brushwork. He had a leading role in the Wakaba art association, and became a jury member of the Teiten exhibitions.
