Painter from Ōita Prefecture. Hirano studied painting as an autodidact. After moving to Tokyo, he participated in the New Works Exhibition and the Free Artists Exhibition. Hirano for some time was a member of the Free Artists Association and Shutai art association but thereafter remained unaffiliated, living and working in Kokura (Kyushu). Hirano’s main topic was the human figure, often relying on dark earthen or ash tones with a Giacometti-like approach to line drawing.
