Nihonga painter from Osaka. Aoki studied yōga (Western-style painting) at the Kansai Art Academy and nihonga at the Kyoto Municipal School of Painting. He established the Shintōsha Yōga Study Center, later dissolved the group and turned to nihonga. Together with Yūki Somei and Kawasaki Shōko he co-founded the Dainichi Art Academy. After the dissolution of the Dainichi Art Academy, and without affiliation to any specific group, he enthusiastically engaged in creating and presenting individual exhibitions. During his stays in Europe, the United States and China, he deepened his emphasis on naturalistic representation.
