(1896–1975)
Painter, born in Tokyo as the son of the scholar of classical Japanese, Hayashi Mikaomi. Hayashi dropped out of the Nihon Art College. He received the Chōgyū Award and Nika-kai Award. Hayashi became a member of the Nika-kai art association but left to co-found the Dokuritsu Fine Arts Association. His works emphasize intricate compositions with bold brushwork and a striking sense of color. Awarded the Mainichi Arts Prize and the Japan Art Academy Award, Hayashi later was appointed a professor at Tokyo University of the Arts.
