(1924–1977)
Nihonga painter from Aichi Prefecture. Nakamura studied with Nakamura Gakuryō. Initially participating in the Nitten exhibitions, he later left the group and worked independently. His works were shown at the Genbi and Japan International exhibitions, in addition to numerous solo shows. A versatile artist, Nakamura also worked for the movie industry and theater. He founded the Hitohito art association, aiming for a renewal of Japan’s art world. The nature of his work earned him a reputation as a nonconformist and iconoclast artist.
