Nihonga painter from Fukuoka (Kyushu). Keisen studied in the Shijō style under Tsuji Kakō, but his works also show the influence of literati artists Tomioka Tessai and Sengai Gibon. Keisen also saught inspiration in Buddhist paintings from the Nara and Heian periods. He is well-known for his portraiture, landscapes and Buddhist paintings. Member of the Nihon Bijutsuin (Japan Art Institute).
