Nihonga painter from Tokyo. Chōfū started painting as an autodidact but later trained with Tsutaya Ryūkō and Araki Jippo. Since the Twelfth Bunten, he participated regularly in the Bunten exhibitions. He also submitted works to the Teiten of 1929. Together with Fukuda Toyoshirō and Yoshioka Kenji, Chōfū co-founded the Bijutsu Jinsha art association and their journal, Bijutsujin (Art People).
