Nihonga painter from Kyoto. Keinen at first trained with the ukiyo-e artist Umekawa Tōkyo, but then became a member of the Maruyama Shijō school under Suzuki Hyakunen. He excelled in bird-and-flower painting and exhibited widely in Japan and abroad. Keinen eventually became an Imperial Household Artist, jury member of the Bunten and a member of the Imperial Art Academy.
