Ceramist from Aichi Prefecture. Katō had an interest in ceramics early on in life. He studied Koseto techniques in Kamakura and contributed to the revival of Momoyama-style Oribe, Kiseto and Shino wares. Chairman of the Japan Ceramic Society and the Japan Kōgei Association.
