Nihonga painter from Fukui Prefecture, nephew of Okakura Tenshin. Shūsui studied under Kano Hōgai. With Kaneko Kentarō, Kobayashi Gokyō and Morohashi Seishō, he co-founded the Nichigetsukai association. Shūsui was also involved in the establishment of the Kanokai art association together with Kano Tomonobu. Jury member of the Japan Youth Painting Association.
