Painter from Kōchi Prefecture (Shikoku). Toraji studied at Koyama Shōtarō’s Fudōsha studio, then went on to establish the Taiheiyō and Shigenkai art associations. Initially centering on portraiture of women, Toraji later painted mostly landscapes in a bright style reminiscent of Impressionism.
