(1885–1966)
Nihonga painter from Wakayama Prefecture. Ryūshi initially studied yōga (Western-style painting) and exhibited at the Hakubakai art association. After traveling extensively in Europe and the United States, he changed his style to nihonga. Later Ryūshi led the Seiryūsha art association and became known as a pillar of modern nihonga. Person of Cultural Merit. He received the Order of Culture in 1959.
