(1897–1969)

Nihonga painter from Fukushima Prefecture. Sanryō studied the painter Bannai Seiran. After becoming acquainted with Ogawa Usen, he his works were admitted to the Inten exhibitions. Many of his paintings center on rural life and are evoke a poetic interpretation of nature. A member of the Japan Art Academy, Sanryō received the Prize of the Minister of Education and Culture in 1962.
